Spot A Doc is a striking 1987 black leopard Appaloosa stallion whose pedigree traces entirely to real horses and brings together some outstanding foundation Appaloosa and Quarter Horse performance bloodlines. By 1971 black leopard Plaudit Black Pine and out of 1974 chestnut blanket Quinta Bar Bright, he is a grandson of legendary 1963 Prince Plaudit, the 1988 ApHC Hall of Fame stallion who was a National Grand Champion and National Champion aged halter stallion, earned the first ApHC Bronze Production Plaque, and sired hundreds of registered foals including numerous National and World Champions. Spot A Doc's paternal side also introduces exceptional cutting blood through 1959 sorrel Peppy San, an AQHA and NCHA Hall of Fame stallion, 1962 NCHA Futurity Reserve Champion, 1967 NCHA World Champion Cutting Horse and AQHA High Point Cutting Stallion who became an influential sire of performance horses. His maternal grandsire is another legend, 1956 chestnut Doc Bar, the 1993 AQHA Hall of Fame stallion whose own racing career proved modest but who excelled in halter before becoming one of the breed's transformational cutting-horse sires, producing World Champions and NCHA Futurity winners such as Doc O'Lena and Dry Doc. Doc Bar's sire, 1951 sorrel Lightning Bar, was an AQHA Champion, stakes-placed AAA racehorse and 2008 AQHA Hall of Fame inductee, while his 1948 chestnut dam Dandy Doll was herself a five-time race winner and Race ROM mare. The Appaloosa influence returns strongly through Quinta's Bright Star, a 1969 golden roan blanket mare by 1951 chestnut roan Quinta Chief and out of 1963 chestnut blanket Bright Starlight, a daughter of ApHC Hall of Famer Bright Eyes Brother. Combining the Prince Plaudit tradition of colorful, versatile Appaloosas with two of the Quarter Horse world's most celebrated performance families through Peppy San and Doc Bar, Spot A Doc offers an especially appealing blend of Appaloosa type and color, proven cow-horse ability, athleticism and generations of influential breeding.
