Coming home from a long week on travel, Rainbow Dreams Stables owner Beth Gustas nearly fainted at her stables' fantastic results for the 2003 Express Year-End Awards! In addition to ten Rainbow Dreams Stables owned horses being named as champions, Rainbow Dreams Stables was named Breeder of the Year for the 2003 Model Darley Awards and Beth was named Owner of the Year in the Model Darley Awards, Model Running Appaloosa Awards and Model Running Paint Award divisions! Wow...

The new champions at Rainbow Dreams Stables include:

FLAUNT A WIN: A 2000 sorrel Quarter Horse home-bred filly by real stallion Runaway Winner and out of stakes winning Miss Highfallutin, Flaunt A Win was named Model Clabber Awards Champion 3yo Filly! She raced eight times in 2003, winning five of those starts including the Elusive Folly Stakes (OCT), the ITR Best of Both Breeds Handicap (GBD), the Wasatch Distaff (WSD), Wasatch 3yo QH Championship Stakes (WSD) and an allowance effort. She also placed in the G1 ITR Mildred Vessel Memorial (OCT) and the Cloudland Invitational Stakes (GBD). She earned two track championships as a 3yo - the Wasatch Downs Quarter Horse Champion Sophomore Female and the October Downs Champion 3yo QH Filly championships. She continues to race as a 4yo and will likely retire to our broodmare herd at the end of 2004.

LOVE OR MONEY: This 2000 black Arabian home-bred filly by MDA HOTY Escudo and out of our unraced stakes producer Sams Love really took the track by storm in her debut season! We are very proud that she was named Model Darley Awards Champion 3yo Female! Running exclusively in stakes as a 3yo, Love or Money won the G1 ITR ARC Juvenile Distaff (IPR), G1 Daughters of the Desert Stakes (OCT), ITR Dr Sam Harrison Juvenile Distaff (RSD), Sleepy Oaks Futurity (SOD), and the Legends Classic Stakes (FRP) and was named the 2003 October Downs Champion 3yo Arabian Filly. She continues to race in 2004; future plans have not yet been determined.

SAMMIES DARE: Our second MDA winner is also by our stakes producing mare Sams Love -- Sammies Dare, sired by unraced Darley sire Doubledare, is a 1999 grey home-bred Arabian colt who ran nearly undefeated in 2003! We were please to learn he'd been named Model Darley Award Champion 4yo Male title, but we shocked and delighted by his Model Darley Award Horse of the Year title! Sammies Dare ran ten times in 2003 -- winning the G1 ITR ARC Classic Open (IPR), G2 ITR Bob Magness Derby (StC0, ITR Texas Ranger (FLT), Beltane Stakes (RSD), Black River Classic (StC), Nickadaaz Stakes (OCT), Sleepy Oaks Derby (SOD), Sleepy Oaks Classic Invitational (SOD), & Wahmira Stakes (OCT) and lost placed a close second (by a nose!) in his only loss - the Ocean Surf Handicap (JPD). He was also named 2003 October Downs Champion 4yo Arabian Colt/Gelding. He continues to race in the 2004 season. Plans for the 2005 season have not yet been decided.

TRICKY SIEGE: A 2001 bay Standardbred pacer colt by MHA Pacer of the Year Under Siege and out of our unraced mare Tricky Temptation, Tricky Siege was named Model Hambletonian Awards Champion 2yo Pacing Male! He continues to be a force to be reckoned with in 2004 and will most likely continue his racing career in 2005.

DYNAMYT TRAVEL: Bred by Dragonfly Ranch (OK), we were delighted to learn this fine 2001 bay blanket Appaloosa filly sired by RDS-owned MSW Travel On By and out MSW/MRAA-producer Dynamyt was named the Model Running Appaloosa Awards Champion 2yo Sprint Filly! She was also named the 2003 Wasatch Downs Champion Juvenile Appaloosa Female. She continues to race well in stakes company in 2004; plans for 2005 have yet to be determined.

PLAINS SENSATION: While he took awhile to reach his full potential, this 1997 chestnut semi-leopard Appaloosa colt (MSW Sharp Sensation x High Plains Gale) bred by Flahive Stock Horses (CA) ran strong in 2003 and we were pleased to learn to he had been named the Model Running Appaloosa Awards Champion Aged Stallion. Running exclusively in stakes in 2003, he won twice - the Alpena Stakes (ASR) and Kiwi Stakes (OCT) - and placed in two other stakes. She was also named the 2003 Wasatch Downs Champion Senior Appaloosa Female. After a rough break in her first start of 2004, we retired this stunning mare to our broodmare herd in hopes of a 2005 foal.

WILD SPLASHES: How often does a two year old, let alone a 2yo filly, get named World Champion?! We knew we had something special when picked up this October Moon Acres (IL) bred 2001 buckskin tobiano Paint filly by RDS-owned MRPA MCH Splashdown and out of MCA CH Wild Rose QH and she just continued to prove the point as she was named Model Running Paint Awards Champion 2yo Filly, Champion Overall 2yo, and World Champion Paint!
