May 10, 2003 Stock Horse Meet
Mother Nature had a bit of a surprise for us this morning -- 8 inches of wet, heavy snow and lots of broken tree branches on the grounds! After a day of rain on Friday and the heavy snow overnight, the track was a muddy mess but our grounds crew did a commendable job clearing the track and providing a race worthy (tho still quite muddy!) surface. They also managed to clear the majority of tree branches from the grounds to provide safe passage for horses, racing staff and fans alike! While many sporting and special events in the Denver-metro area were cancelled, we managed to hold a safe fun-filled meet on Saturday afternoon! (Trainers -- The surprise spring storm and track surface should make a great excuse for horses who didn't run their best today!)
