Winner: AZURE SEA, 2000 grey colt by The Mariner x Azaleah [GB], Nashwan
Owner/Trainer: Staci Harbold Bred by Country Road Farm (PA)

AZURE SEA broke sharp to set the pace, led the pack wire to wire while pulling away late. Favorite MEN IN TIGHTS moved up to press Azure Sea on the inside, gamely pushed but couldn't pass the winner. VIGOR'S HALO settled off the pace and moved up late but not in time. SMOOTH AWAY came up to stalk on the outside, tiring late. HANDLE WITH CARE stumbled at the break, recovered and tried to catch pack.

Steward’s notes: While the field was small, we were pleased with the quality of the field who arrived for the IOR Brooklyn today -- what a talented pack. Staci Harbold's Azure Sea got away quick to take the lead -- once he got out there, simply no one could touch him! Men In Tights hounded the pace setter gamely and ran a fine race; it simply wasn't his day today. Closer Vigor's Halo made his classic closing move but it just wasn't in time. Up against tough competitors, Smooth Away tried gamely early but couldn't hold. Rough luck for Handle With Care today -- the crowd gasped as this gutsy filly nearly went to her knees at the break but she recovered well, seemingly unhurt, and gave a tremendous effort in her quest to catch the boys. She should come back strong next time. Thanks to everyone for the chance to host your talented horses!
