Today's announcement of the Express Year End Awards delighted staff at Rainbow Dreams Stables! The farm proudly accepted championship awards for three of its newly retired stallions and a precocious youngster with a promising career ahead of him.

Cross R Ranch-bred WOLF POWER (Seaworthy x Premium Speed, Speed Trip), who was purchased from North Star Stud last fall in the Express Yearling Auction, was named the Model Hambletonian Awards - 2yo Trotting Male Champion! This 2000 bay Standardbred colt blasted onto the track as a two year old...winning five of six starts including the Fireworks Stakes 2yo Trot (D2) and ITR Bluegrass 2yo colt Trot at West Ottawa Raceway and the Legacy Yearling Sale Stakes 2yo Trot at Thunder Valley Downs. Much to our delight, he was also named the 2002 West Ottawa Raceway Champion 2yo Colt/Gelding Trotter. Wolf Power has already nabbed two stakes wins as a three year old and continues to do well! Look for him in the Rainbow Dreams Stables Stallion Row in a few years!

Five Acre Farms-bred FIVESTAR AVALON (Guns of Avalon x Fivestar Amber, Mitar-r) concluded a fine three-year racing career when he nabbed the closely-contested Model Hambletonian Awards - Aged Pacing Male! A dark bay 1998 Standardbred horse, Fivestar Avalon earned two track championships last year - Champion 4yo Standardbred Pacer Horse/Gelding at October Downs and Champion Aged Horse/Gelding Pacer at Island Park Raceway. He won two stakes last year - the Keystone 1-1/2 Mile Marathon Pace (for the second year in a row!) at Island Park and Tragic Kingdom Stakes at October Downs - and earned a life mark of p,4,1:55.1. He was retired late last year and is available at stud (first foal crop 2004) here at Rainbow Dreams Stables. http://www.starrfyre.com/rds/race/stallions/fivestar_avalon.htm

A tremendous distance competitor, home-bred JODYS MAC (Fleetwood Mac x Almost Jody, Jody O'Toole) brought home Model Clabber Award - Aged Stallion championship after three years of stakes wins and track championships! This 1997 dun Quarter Horse had a fabulous five year old season with three stakes wins - the 770y Wyalusing Invitational at Badger State, the 870y Jocularity Stakes at October Downs and the 870y Talisman Stakes at Gainsborough - and was named Champion 5/u Quarter Horse/Gelding at October Downs. He retired to stud service late last year (first foal crop 2004) - contact Rainbow Dreams Stables for further information! http://www.starrfyre.com/rds/race/stallions/jodys_mac.htm

For the second year in a row, our home-bred 1997 red roan blanket Appaloosa PLAUDIT PEGASUS (Plaudit Bar x Pegasus Bay TB, Fair Warning) was named the Model Running Appaloosa Awards - Champion Aged Stallion! Pegasus won four of his seven stakes starts last year including the 870y Rock Island Invitational and 550y Ink Blot Stakes at Badger State Raceway, the 660y Sun and Moon Stakes at Greater Northwest, and the 660y Bear Garden Stakes at Road Runner. He was also Champion Aged Appaloosa at Badger State and was named a 4/u Appaloosa Horse Medallion Winner. One of my first homebred runners in the Express, Plaudit Pegasus has a special place in my heart and I can't wait to see how his babies run a couple years from now! http://www.starrfyre.com/rds/race/stallions/plaudit_pegasus.htm

Rainbow Dreams Stables would also like to take this opportunity to congratulation all the Express Year-End Award winners! The competition was brutal and each award is very deserved! We'd like to extend a special congratulations to Carol Betcher and her Rainbow Dreams Stables-bred colt, AZURE GLASS, who was named Model Running Paint Awards - 2yo Colt AND Overall Champion 2yo Paint! Azure Glass' sire, Azure Wrangler QH, was the first stud in Rainbow Dreams Stables stallion barn and we're pleased with his son's fabulous efforts! http://www.starrfyre.com/rds/race/stallions/azurewrangler.htm

Thank you to all the stewards who faithfully run their race tracks, to the breeders who offer fine stock for racing year in and year out, to the owners who carefully campaign RDS-stock, and especially to Sue Stahl who organizes this monstrous award program, produces the Express newsletter and so much more! I really do love this hobby... :)
